How To Care For Snow Rose Bonsai (Serissa)
Keep the soil evenly moist at all times, without overwatering. If the top layer or soil is dry, top-up your Serissa with water. If you have hard-water, consider filtering your water first and ensuring it has a PH value (7).
Serissa like a brightly-lit spot in the sun with wind protection if placed outside during the warmer summer months. Always make sure they are in a spot with temperatures above 10°C.
Treat your Serissa to a misting occasionally with a water mister and clean the leaves of dust. Snow Rose bonsai’s are from sub-tropical areas, so try to emulate these conditions where possible.
Normal compost or soil is fine for a Serissa bonsai. Consider a topping stone to help keep moisture in the pot and for decoration.
Use a balanced fertilizer to treat your Snow Rose bonsai or consider one of our specific bonsai fertilizers. Don’t use too much fertilizer for your Serissa as they are only small plants.
Keep your eyes peeled for spider mites, aphids and root aphids. You can use neem oil as a natural insecticide and try to wipe off any bugs or pests you see.
Repot your Serissa biannually using normal compost and cut the roots back softly.
