Snake Plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata Var)

Known as one of the hardiest houseplants around, the Snake Plant is the very definition of Unkillable! This air-purifying plant helps remove pollutants such as carbon dioxide, benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, trichloroethylene, and toluene from the air.

The snake plant is perfect for any beginner plant parent and even the not-so-green-fingered! This plant will thrive in full sun, and its hardy leaves will never scorch or burn. Simply give it a good watering when the top inch of the potting soil is dry and voila, it’ll even outlive you!

Put your snake plant in a sunny spot. It’ll thrive in direct sunlight, so a conservatory, bay window, or bright living room would be perfect. However, keep your snake plants out of reach from pets as they contain harmful saponins. If your pet has ingested part of a snake plant, be sure to seek veterinary attention immediately.

Boston Fern (Nephrolepsis Exaltata)

The Boston fern is the very definition of air-purifying! These indoor plants were around during the time of the dinosaurs when the Earth’s atmosphere contained 50% more oxygen than today. That is, in no small part, down to the Boston fern!

The air-purifying properties of the Boston Fern have been well-known since the Victorian period. Along with plants such as the parlour palm, the Boston Fern has been used to clean the air in even the most polluted environment!

This air-purifying plant removes almost all harmful VOCs from the air, converting them into oxygen. The Boston fern prefers a spot in semi-shade and benefits from a good misting once a week. This will help to keep the fern’s leaves in tip-top shape and keep the plant efficient at purifying the air.

Keep your Boston Fern in a homely spot that is a little bit darker and humid than the average room. Something like a kitchen or bathroom would be perfect! That’ll provide enough natural moisture in the room for ideal growing conditions.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)

The Peace Lily is one of the most popular environment-purifying house plants available today. From the NASA study, it has been shown to filter and remove toxins including benzene, formaldehyde, ethylene, and ammonia!
