I ordered a Kentia Palm from Oxy-Plants. I chose Oxy because they were by fair the best value for money and the most efficient in processing and delivering my new plant baby. I ordered on the Thursday and it arrives on the Monday.I was half expecting the plant to be dehydrated or lost its zest for life. HOWEVER, I couldn't have been more wrong; dark healthy green leaves, beautiful shape to the body of the plant and all planted in a fairly moist post of potting compost.Wrll done Oxy, you've got a customer for life in me now! 😁

How To Care For Bonsai Fig Tree

Bonsais like being well-watered. Remember to keep the soil consistently moist, thoroughly soaking once a week.

Keep in a brightly lit area close to a window but out of direct sunlight for optimum conditions.

Bonsais love a humid environment. Be sure to keep your bonsai away from radiators and give your plant a mist every so often. To go the extra mile, why not introduce a humidity tray over the colder months of the year?

Bonsais thrive with soil that retains water well. it is recommended that a mixture of grit, peat, and loam should be used with your bonsai.

During the growing season, be sure to use a little fertiliser every week. In spring, it may be worth using nitrogen-heavy fertiliser. However, as you reach summer and autumn it would be wise to use a well-balanced fertileser instead.

Like all plants, bonsais are occasionally prone to pests and diseases. If you notice your plant has been infected, be sure to use some of our natural insecticide, neem oil, to treat it.

You should look to repot your bonsai every two years. A good way to gauge this is by looking at your roots. If plenty are touching the sides of the ceramic pot, it’s time to repot!

About Bonsai Fig Tree

Translating from Chinese as “tree in a tray”, the bonsai fig tree is one of the most popular plants on the market! First cared for by Buddhist monks in China, before travelling eastward to Korea and Japan, this bonsai fig is the perfect addition to those wanting elegance and serenity in their home. With a slightly wider trunk and wide-reaching foliage, this bonsai is a natural showstopper for any room or workplace. Also supplied with a beautiful glazed ceramic pot, this all in one plant makes the perfect gift or treat. This bonsai is also supplied with a matching drip tray, enabling excess water to drain safely without damaging your windowsill, table, or carpet!

Bonsai trees have also been shown, in scientific studies, to reduce the incidences of sore throats, dry coughs, colds, and dry skin. The explanation behind this lies behind the bonsai’s ability to naturally regulate your home’s levels of humidity.  Similarly, with their natural ability to bring calmness and serenity to those who look at them, bonsais have also been used as “nature therapy” to quicken rates of psychological and physiological rehabilitation in patients.

Bonsai Tree Care guide – Part of the beauty of the Bonsai plant is the small amount of time you tend to it. The biggest tip one can give is to keep it wet, especially the shallow roots. If you do this, with little light or any other attention your Bonsai will survive. If you really want to see your Bonsai thrive, patience is key. Use a Bonsai care tool such as these Bonsai pruning shears to prune the shape you desire. Fertilising regularly during the growing season is crucial for Bonsai to thrive. As it grows repotting or transplanting your Bonsai will resupply the tree with the nutrients it needs to grow and flourish.
