I ordered a Kentia Palm from Oxy-Plants. I chose Oxy because they were by fair the best value for money and the most efficient in processing and delivering my new plant baby. I ordered on the Thursday and it arrives on the Monday.I was half expecting the plant to be dehydrated or lost its zest for life. HOWEVER, I couldn't have been more wrong; dark healthy green leaves, beautiful shape to the body of the plant and all planted in a fairly moist post of potting compost.Wrll done Oxy, you've got a customer for life in me now! 😁

How To Care For Bonsai Ginseng

Water when the top third of the soil has dried out and let it dry out more during autumn and winter. For those in shadier places; water when half of the soil has dried out to counteract the chance of over-watering, especially in the winter months. If the plant is starting to get stunted growth, dry spots appearing on the leaves and yellowing older leaves. Than the plant is or under-watered, is in a too bright/hot spot, is potbound or pot-bound. If the plant starts getting yellowing lower leaves, brown mushy patches developing in the stems and mouldy soil. Than the plant is or over-watered, gets too little light, has lack of drainage or incorrect soil  and possibly got root rot.

Keep in a brightly lit area close to a window but out of direct sunlight for optimum conditions.

Bonsais love a humid environment. Be sure to keep your bonsai away from radiators and give your plant a mist every so often. To go the extra mile, why not introduce a humidity tray over the colder months of the year?

Bonsais thrive with soil that retains water well. it is recommended that a mixture of grit, peat, and loam should be used with your bonsai.

During the growing season, be sure to use a little fertiliser every week. In spring, it may be worth using nitrogen-heavy fertiliser. However, as you reach summer and autumn it would be wise to use a well-balanced fertiliser instead.

Ginseng Ficus Bonsais aren’t prone to pests and diseases. In rare cases, aphids and whiteflies can occur. To treat, why not use our Neem Oil?

You should look to repot your bonsai every two years. A good way to gauge this is by looking at your roots. If plenty are touching the sides of the ceramic pot, it’s time to repot!

About Bonsai Ginseng

Ficus Microcarpa Ginseng provides a fantastic opportunity to grow a bonsai from juvenility. Fancy a bit of a project? Being a popular bonsai tree with a thick, pot-bellied trunk, similar to the Ginseng root, this plant is destined to grow with a little bit of help and nurture. Whilst this indoor plant is not supplied with a pot, why not accompany it with one of our Bettona or Classic ceramic pots?

Translating from Chinese as “tree in a tray”, the sweet plum bonsai with a ceramic pot is one of the most popular plants on the market! First cared for by Buddhist monks in China, before travelling eastward to Korea and Japan, this Ginseng Ficus Bonsai is the perfect addition to those wanting elegance and serenity in their home.

Bonsai trees have also been shown, in scientific studies, to reduce the incidences of sore throats, dry coughs, colds, and dry skin. The explanation behind this lies behind the bonsai’s ability to naturally regulate your home’s levels of humidity.  Similarly, with their natural ability to bring calmness and serenity to those who look at them, bonsais have also been used as “nature therapy” to quicken rates of psychological and physiological rehabilitation in patients.
