What Is The Best Soil For My Indoor Hanging Plants?

Choosing the correct soil for your indoor hanging plants can often be difficult. As a general rules of thumb, it is always wise to prioritise a heavier soil that will compact your roots and prevent them from falling out of your pot.

For any hanging planter, having some vermiculite and spare soil substrate is always handy! You can even use cactus compost for plants that are used to a little bit of sun!

Most hanging plants like their compost moist, so be sure never let your soil dry completely unless it is the winter months. Having a little bit of extra weight in your soil substrate will help secure any trailing stems.

String of Hearts (Ceropegia Woodii)

This indoor hanging plant has delicate long stems which trail beautifully from shelves or bookcases with leaves which resemble a turquoise turtle shell in the shape of a heart. Satin Pothos (Scindapsus Pictus)

An interesting indoor trailing plant. Its leaves speckled with silver notes hang delicately from stems similar to the Heartleaf Philodendron.
