About Caladium (Heart of Jesus)
Caladium are known predominantly for their sensational foliage. They come in a range of luscious colours from deep red, to lime green and make a fantastic showstopper as an indoor plant. The Heart of Jesus, as Caladiums are often referred to, is a tropical perennial plant which would come back year after year in a warm, humid environment – however, in the UK they can require a little more attention than most houseplants. They love to be watered regularly, love a daily pampering with a water mister and can’t stand the cold.
But…. if it’s extravagant foliage you’re looking for, beautiful colours and a big leaf plant – then you’ve come to the right place.
Please note: this plant comes in a plastic nursery pot. Browse our entire range of plant pots to add that extra charm and character to your home.

How To Care For Caladium (Heart of Jesus)
Caladiums are really thirsty plants. Allow the top inch of the soil to dry between watering but you’re probably going to need to water twice a week through spring and summer. If your Heart of Jesus plant starts wilting, is getting grey leaves and the leaf edges start to brown then the plant probably under-watered or in a spot with too much light. On the other hand, if it starts wilting, the leaves yellow and curl or the soil looks mouldy then the plant is or over-watered or is getting too little light or not enough drainage and possibly getting root rot.
Caladiums require a brightly lit spot that is going to get plenty of sunlight throughout they day – but you want to place it just out of reach from getting the direct sun to make sure you don’t scorch it’s beautiful leaves.
Caladiums love high humidity. We recommend misting the leaves daily with a water mister.
Find a nutrient rich potting soil for your Caladium which is well draining. You can always add grit, soil or perlite to your soil to allow for more drainage.
You can use regular houseplant feed forthnightly in spring and summer. Reduce this down to about once a month in autumn and winter.
Keep an eye out for mealybugs, aphids, spider mites, scale and thrips.
