How To Care For Cactus Mix x3

watering
Watering

People often think cacti don’t need watering, but this isn’t true. Water once per month during spring and summer and reduce during winter months. This will ensure your indoor plant stays alive but isn’t over-watered. Why not try one of our watering cans?

Light & Location

A brightly lit spot is well suited for cacti, they can take some serious sun. Be sure to place this on a windowsill, or even take it outside during a hot day to help it catch those rays!

Humidity

A humid environment is great for cacti as they can absorb quite a bit of water from the air itself. If your cacti mix is placed in a dryer room, why not mimic a more humid atmosphere and invest in one of our water misters?

soil
Soil

Cacti love a well-draining, sandy, gritty soil. This will help in creating a desert-like environment for your indoor plant. If you think your cacti mix needs some new soil, have a look online for some specialised cacti and succulent soil/compost!

Fertiliser

Fertiliser is really not essential for cacti. However, if you wanted to ensure your spiky friend will grow and thrive, wy not pair this product with some Miracle-Gro drip and feed for the summer months?

Pests and Diseases

On the whole, cacti really aren’t susceptible to too many critters or pests. After all, there aren’t too many of those in the desert! The most prevalent problems in cacti come from the fault of the owners. Often overwatering can lead to bacterial and fungal infections, inducing root rot. These, more times than most, take the form of black, or brown, spots. To avoid this, Do NOT overwater your plant.

potting
Repotting

You should look to repot your cacti mix every 6 months. If it’s a little bit bigger, maybe reduce this to every year! You can tell when it’s time to re-pot when the roots are root-bound! Have a look at our extensive range of stone plant pots and pick which one you find nicest!
